Anxiety Treatment

Do I need treatment for anxiety?

Did you know that some kinds of anxiety are actually really healthy for you?

If you didn’t feel anxious about being fired from your job, you might not try so hard to get to work on time. If you weren’t a bit anxious about being hit by a car while crossing the road, you might not look both ways.

See, sometimes anxiety can be helpful. It motivates us to do our best, and it helps us stay out of harm’s way.

Unfortunately, many people struggle with unhealthy and unhelpful anxiety. – the kind that keeps you from living life peacefully and successfully.

The best indicators of unhealthy anxiety can be noticed in the way you think, feel, and act.

Do you feel stressed, overwhelmed, and worried? Have your thoughts and fears kept you up at night? Do social situations make you uncomfortable and nervous? Does your mind tend to race – or go blank – when you need to perform?

If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, you might struggle with unhealthy anxiety – and Key Insights Counseling is here to help you.

Unhealthy anxiety keeps you from living your best life and being able to rest. This is the type of worry that keeps you up at night, stressing and ruminating, makes you lose your train of thought when you need to focus, and gives you that “sick” feeling in the pit of your stomach.

We are here for you!

How will treatment help my anxiety?

When people feel anxious, they tend to avoid whatever it is that makes them feel that way. Over time, this leads to a nasty pattern known as the cycle of avoidance.

Those moments of relief, the “whew, I avoided it,” tend to reinforce our desire to avoid the fear when it returns. This cycle leaves the fear unaddressed, which allows it room to grow and spread. In turn, we must work harder to avoid in the future – which can sometimes include using drugs, food, or other distractions to take our mind off the problem. This is truly what makes overcoming anxiety so difficult.

Therapy for anxiety is all about breaking the avoidance cycle. You get to learn new skills for managing anxious feelings and changing the way you think about fear, but ultimately you will find encouragement and support for confronting and overcoming your anxiety. The discomfort from this endows you with freedom as you continue to make progress and conquer your fears.

Here at Key Insights Counseling, we believe that with the right support and motivation, anyone can break the avoidance cycle and overcome fear – including you! Contact us today to sign up for your first session or learn more about what we do.

What does anxiety treatment look like at Key Insights Counseling?

We are here for you!

Our team of counselors offer a wide range of services to help you with your anxiety symptoms. Our services are designed to incorporate the latest research while offering strategic, compassionate and solution-focused treatment for anxiety.

The initial session is called the “intake interview,” which involves a thorough review of your life story and current situation. This allows us to accurately pinpoint the problem and collaborate on a plan moving forward. From there, we meet for regular individual therapy sessions – which is where the real work begins.

Key Insights Counseling uses a variety of techniques to help with the treatment of anxiety. We utilizes techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Eye Movement Desensitization Processing (EMDR), Somatic methods, Mindfulness and Psychoanalysis to provide a holistic and highly effective approach to anxiety treatment.

As you begin therapy, you can learn to manage your anxiety symptoms by:

·         Confronting your fears and overcome worry

·         Relax and sleep well

·         Feel confident and have self-control

·         Manage and reduce panic attacks

·         Decrease reliance on “numbing” behaviors

·         Think positively and understand your emotions

·         Break the avoidance cycle once and for all
